Help us fundraise for Charlie
One of our former SwimActive members, Charlie Hardman, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy age four. This is a life limiting muscle wasting condition. Charlie is now 11 years old and he needs an all terrain wheelchair to give him a better quality of life with his family.
The wheelchair costs £12,500.
Speaking about why an all terrain wheelchair would benefit the her son, Charlie’s mum said: “Rather than dwell on what Charlie can’t do we have decided to help him access more things and explore like any other 11 year old and we want to raise enough money to fund an all terrain wheelchair. This is a costly item the minimum price for the basic model of the wheelchair he needs is £12,500 but he may need extras to it which will cost more. We want Charlie to make as many memories as he can before this disease prevents him.”
You can take part
To help raise money, SwimActive together with Acresfield Health Club & Spa is hosting a ‘Sponsored Swim Week’ during normal swim lessons, beginning on November 18th. The challenge is down to swimmers to decide. There is no set goal, we just ask for people to try their best and raise as much money for this cause!
You can join our Sponsored Swim Week by collecting a Sponsorship Form from Acresfield Reception, downloading a form online or simply make a donation using our collection tins. Please bring your donations to the Club. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
