Since Acresfield opened in 2014 we’ve had the pleasure of working with Technogym. We visited Technogym earlier this year to discuss our ongoing partnership and discover what’s new. We’ll share with you more details about our visit soon. For now, let us take you back to the origins of this prestigious fitness brand.

How Technogym first began

Entrepreneur Nerio Alessandri aged just 22 in the 1980s began building the prototype of an exercise machine in his garage of his home in Cesena, Italy.  He went on to rent a warehouse and in 1985 Technogym launched its first complete strength training line. Fast forward to today and over 40 million people around the world train with Technogym.

On 29th September 2012 the new stunning headquarters which was designed by Antonio Citterio was officially opened by the Italian President, Giogio Napolitano and former US President Bill Clinton.  The Wellness Campus extends to some 150,000 sq m of which 60,000 sq m is covered space.

In 2000 Technogym was chosen as the official supplier for athlete training at the Olympics and has provided gym equipment to every Olympics since.  Various sports partner with Technogym including F1 teams, Ferrari and McLaren, football teams, Juventus, AC and Inter Milan, tennis stars Rafael Nadal and Jannik Sinner and in golf it is the official partner of the PGA.

Technogym prides itself on innovation and quality and this is evident when visiting the Headquarters.  Attention to detail is paramount. In 1992 Technogym defined its wellness concept as “a lifestyle based on regular physical activity, a balanced diet and a positive attitude”. This adage forms an important part of the team’s everyday lives.  The company employs over 2,200 people worldwide with over 1,000 being based in Cesena. Not surprisingly the company has a very high retention rate of team members and absence due to sickness is almost unheard of.

It is a story of perseverance, faith in innovation and archetypical Italian passion for detail.
